Carb count for whipping cream
« on: January 21, 2016, 01:31:07 PM »
I just bought your book and love it! One question, how come in your recipes, you don't count the carbs on whipping cream? Even though my whipping cream says no carbs for 1 tablespoon, I believe they add up when the amount goes up.
Thank you!

Hi, Othertwin! :)

Some whipping creams are zero carb and some are one per serving.
So added the carbs to your daily intake as indicated.

Hi Other twin, welcome to the family! My whipping cream is a zero. I buy heavy whipping cream.

zero carb whipping cream is getting harder and harder to find.  I am also having trouble finding heavy cream without carrageenan.  I read that carrageenan is a stabilizer used in whipping cream to make it stay whipped longer, and that I should look for heavy cream instead.  Problem is all of the heavy cream now list carrageenan too.  I looked at WalMart as well as three different local supermarket chains.

Hi, Mark!

If you cannot find zero carb whipping cream, you have 3 options;

1. Don't buy whipped cream (not a good option if you love it like me).
2. Buy it, but count the carbs to your daily allowance.
3. Make your own with heavy whipping cream (liquid) using a good mixer.

I normally take options 2 or 3 depending on the amount of time I have.
