« on: September 11, 2010, 09:21:28 AM »
Another Saturday has rolled around, so I will pick up this thread again and post my weigh-in results. Down 1.8 pounds this week for a total of 26. It's a bit discouraging after the big loss last week, but at least I have maintained it and lost a bit more. I keep fearing that the "spell has broken" and I won't be able to keep losing.

Don't call it failure, Gary, call it learning pains. You and your body are both adjusting to alot of new things, so it will take a while to figure out what works best for you.  :)

Ask Umpa / Re: Gravy
« on: September 08, 2010, 07:07:03 AM »
Thanks so much, Umpa. I've never seen xanthan gum at our store (we have only one store :-[) but maybe they could order it for me. I was very glad to find that the store actually stocks Bob's Red Mill flax so I didn't have to order it online.

Hi Umpa; Is there a replacement for flour or cornstarch for making gravy? Thanks.

I’m back! I posted a couple times in July but have not been back since. I started FTS in early July and had great results. Then I slid away from the plan for 2 weeks in August :( I had several social functions and a lot of travelling and just didn’t make the right meal choices. I gained 10.8 pounds in those 2 weeks. I have now been back with FTS for one week - and lost 11.4 pounds this week. I am so thrilled. I was afraid  it would take me weeks to get back to where I was, so I am greatly encouraged. Total loss so far is 24.2 pounds. I’m starting to realize when I am not hungry, and when I am, and don’t eat by the clock. It often results in eating only twice a day but still not being hungry. The flax bread recipe is a great component of my daily plan for fibre and filling me up.

Now, to keep my determination going and not be led astray again...

General Discussion / Re: Confused about pork rinds

It's not something I've ever seen here in Canada. Seems to be a snack product that comes packaged in a bag like potato chips. It is available online from the Toronto low carb store     www.thelowcarbgrocery.com

I've seen posts on other boards that say they've found them in Ontario at Walmart or Bulk Barn but I haven't looked. Both those stores are too far away from me.  :)  Good luck.

Product Reviews / lime juice
« on: July 26, 2010, 08:10:32 PM »
Thank you to founditatlast for mentioning lime juice in a post. I didn't know there was such a thing.  I have ReaLemon and now also ReaLime.  zero carbs. I don't like the taste or idea of artificial sweetener, so for a soft drink I add a splash of lemon or lime juice to low-sodium club soda (zero carbs). Very refreshing.

Hi there! I've been lurking on the forum for a few days and decided to take the plunge and post. I downloaded the book almost 2 weeks ago and have had amazing results so far, very encouraging. It's going to be a long haul but results so far show that this plan actually works, so that makes me determined. I have a few questions so will zoom around the forum and find the best category to post them.
