« on: August 23, 2017, 04:59:30 PM »
Hello there!!
I am still here. Still struggling financially, but I am doing my best to eat low carb. I ate 3 eggs scrambled with 2 tbsp cream and little stevia extract. Fried turkey bacon in coconut oil. It's my high fat low carb breakfast.

Hi, Susie! :)

That is a simple and wonderful breakfast.
I usually keep mine simple, too. Except on most Sundays.

Hi, Alex! :)

Nice to hear from you! :) :) :)

I have been doing very well, thanks for asking. :)
I hope your continued FTS journey is still going well for you, as it is for me.

I haven't heard from Doug and Umpa in a while.
But as long as they keep this website and forum up and running, I will help others that need it when they ask.

It would be nice if more of our FTS family would chime in now and then.
It's far more quiet than in days past. I really enjoy helping others get healthy.

All the best to you and yours, Alex!

Hello, Mike!

I've had dark bags under my eyes for years. But then, I'm 65 so no surprise.
Have tried cucumbers before, with limited success.

Lack of sleep is one cause of eye puffiness and bags.
I can't help but wonder if your sleep cycle has been disrupted since you started your night shift job?
Not getting enough quality sleep can negatively effect our health in many ways , even disrupting weight loss.

There are other medical reasons such as hypothyroidism and/or diseases of the liver.
You might consider seeing your doctor to rule out medical issues.

Hello, Kelly! :)

Liposuction surgery will remove fat that has accumulated on a body.
But it will NOT repair the cause of the fat accumulation.
The fat will come back (plus more) if the cause is not addressed.

Please read Doug's book "FAT to Skinny!". This book literally saved my life!
There is a link at the bottom of the page to order it.
The low carb lifestyle presented in that book helped me lose 100 pounds, 7 years ago.
And made me healthier than I had been in decades.

Why does your sister have to lose her excess weight in a limited period of time?
Whatever the reason, healthy weight loss CANNOT be done on a timetable!!!
No two of us are alike. And healthy weight loss rates will vary from one person to another.
Not to mention, a body that naturally loses excess fat is FAR more likely to keep it from coming back (plus more).

Losing weight extremely fast will further damage an already damaged metabolism and can also cause other VERY serious health problems. I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST IT!!!

Before ordering Doug's book, look around at the forum here and read about others' experiences.
You will get a better feel about the FTS Low-Carb Lifestyle and how it is a PERMANENT and healthy solution for your sister.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know.

Hi, Donna!  :)

I'm right here with you... I never left. :)
Been living the FTS lifestyle since August 2010.

There is not much activity here these days.
I can only hope most folks have moved on with their FTS lifestyles and are staying healthy.

Let me know if you need anything.

Hi, Conner!  :)

Lets' try again...

We'd like to help you. But need more information.
What EXACTLY seems to be causing you issue?

Is it will power?
Is it temptations around you that you can't avoid?
Are there people around you that are not supportive?
Is it symptoms of "sugar detox"?

Specifics will help us, help you!  :)

Thanks!

Yes sir! My mom before she passed away, always had a saying..."If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten."

You're mom had a good saying, Stephanie.
The words are simple, yet so true.

That's wonderful, Stephanie! :) :) :) :) :)

Patience and persistence pays off when met with challenges.

It sure would be nice if we could just set the amount of weight to lose, the time to lose it, and let things roll. But sadly, it just doesn't work like that.

But, the FTS lifestyle is the next best thing to it.
We get to eat very, very well. And if we stick with it, we lose our excess weight.

Hello, Lauren! :)

I'm sorry to hear of your uncle's experience.
He's certainly not the first to be ostracized for his weight.
Like most of us here, I too was one too.

Trying to follow two different programs will usually lead to failure.
This is because they often have contradictory instruction, or more often,
take you into directions that are impossible to follow at the same time.

I cannot speak with any expertise to the Brooker program.
Except to say that portion control is also a part of the FTS lifestyle.
But that is where I see the common ground ending.

That bowl of pasta pictured on the site is a NO NO no matter what else is with it!
Pasta is LOADED with digestible grain starches (carbs).
Our bodies see starches no differently than sugar because they both end up blood glucose, then fat. If you any read Doug's books, you'll understand why.

And also that unlike the Brooker program, we REPLACE the same foods that made us fat and not DEPRIVE ourselves. We have our own versions of delicious cheesecakes, brownies, mashed potato replacements, etc.. We have no prescribed "eat so much of this or that". It is not natural for us to live in such a restricted way for a long time.

FTS is how I've been able to VERY comfortably keep living this way since August 10, 2010. And have NEVER looked back! Deprivation is what causes diets to fail. Eventually, we give in and gain back all the weight we've lost, plus more.

Look around this website, especially at our recipe sections.
And check out Doug's book for more detailed information.

This lifestyle took me from a place where my doc gave me a few years to live,
to a very happy, energetic, and healthy man entering his Golden Years!  :) :) :)

I'm enjoying the low carb diet and being in ketosis but my workouts are suffering because of it. Does anyone here eat carbs before a workout?

Hi, Terrance! :)

Barring any other health complications (hidden or otherwise), if you are living the FTS lifestyle as Doug outlined in his books, you should have MORE energy, not less.

The one exception is during "sugar detox". The period when first starting the lifestyle while the body adjusts to living with much less free-flowing glucose in the bloodstream. This normally can last anywhere from about 10 days to two weeks.

I you are in detox, be patient. The bio-mechanisms in your body are working hard to adjust. This in itself requires a LOT of energy.

But when detox has been achieved, you will notice a HUGE spike in energy levels.
At that point, the body has re-balanced itself to a healthy state.

Hi, Stephanie! :)

Nice to hear from you again and happy to hear your life is going well.

Life is good in this household as well.
Happy living the FTS lifestyle and never missing a day of my old ways. :)
