Mouseissue,
Thanks for the input regarding ketosis.  I guess if I go in an out of ketosis it's okay, it's just going really slow for me!  I need to suck it up and quit complaining!   I guess I'll figure this out as I go along.  I just want to see more of a change.  That's what will keep me motivated!

Haven't taken them in a week or so.  I was down some a few weeks ago.  This morning I took Doug's suggestion and ate a low carb breakfast consisting of 1 egg and 3 strips bacon.  I'm still not hungry!

I was trying to avoid diet drinks with aspartame.  My question now is, I just bought Diet Coke with Splenda thinking it was a better option than the aspartame.

I'm starting to wonder if this is going to work for me or not.  I use Keostix to watch for ketosis.  I keep going in an out of ketosis???

The other meals throughout the day are practically carb free except dinner.  Because of more veggies or salad dressings.  For lunch it's usually some kind of meat on romaine lettuce, with mustard, pickles, a couple of olives and maybe a few pork rinds 0 carb.   I was eating a heavier carb load at breakfast because I prefer sweets in the morning.

Do I need to detox again due to using Splenda?  Would this help with my stall?

General Discussion / FTS Sweetner vs Splenda and other sweetners
« on: May 02, 2012, 08:08:44 PM »
Hi guys,
Guess what, 2 weeks and no weight loss.  Feeling alittle frustrated about losing 2 pounds to gain back 2 pounds.  This has been going on for 2 weeks now!! I'm stuck at the same 9-11 lb weight loss in 2 months!

I just saw Doug's posting in the dessert forum about Splenda having carbs.  I think I read that Splenda can cause a stall in some people as well as sugar alcohols.  I have a question.  Can the fTS sweetner be used for baking?  I saw where Umpa uses xylitol for baking, stevia for coffee.  What is the FTS sweetner used for?  Can it be used to replace Splenda?  I make these mini cheesecake muffins that are 3 carbs each.  I eat these in the morning for breakfast with 1/2 cup of fresh berries.  I'm concerned that these "delicious little treats" are sabbotaging me!  Can I convert the Splenda and use another sweetner to find out if indeed the Splenda is the culprit?

I'm desperately seeking an answer.  I have increased my water intake.  I know I need to do a better job of keeping track of the number of carbs I consume throughout the day.  I realized the other day that I was enjoying almonds for a snack but my portion was off.  I've since elminated the almonds.
Please HELP!!!!!!

Andrea, that's great!!!!  I'm less than two months into this lifestyle and I'm wondering if I will ever reach goal.  It's going way slow for me but I'm trying to celebrate each pound or inch - just not with food!!!!    :)

Congratulations and you are an inspiration to me also.

Lean On My Shoulder / Just checking in
« on: April 24, 2012, 09:49:44 AM »
Hi everyone!  I haven't posted in a couple of weeks.  I've been away from home for the last week.  Just wanted to report that I was able to maintain my new lifestyle and came home a pound lighter!!  So exciting.  Also, I've lost about 13 inches overall.  I had to buy a size smaller in clothing before I went on my trip!!!  This was so exciting....you truly do melt away!

My husband is down a total of 20 pounds now and I'm down 11 total.  It's going way slower for me than it is him.  He looks so good and he's feeling great!!!

Two of my friends that I went on vacation with bought the FTS book and will be checking out the website.

Thanks again Doug, I will be forever grateful to you!

Congrats!!!!  There's nothing more thrilling than being a grandma!!!  I'm so in love with my grandbabies, which by the way, I have a new one too!  She's 6 weeks old - adorable!  I sure let the older grandchildren do things I would have never let my own children do!!! Like play in a bowl of macaroni and cheese!!!!  Enjoy, such a precious gift to you and your family!!!!    :)

Thanks for explaining!  I enjoyed a SF Russell Stover's Marshmallow Easter Egg - 1 net carb.  But was loaded with Sugar Alcohol.  I don't recall how much but my husband and I shared.  Hopefully, it won't hold me back another week or two or three.....:)

Oh Umpa!!!  Can I use that saying??  Love it!!!

Hang in there!  I've not seen the scale move for weeks and my husband is dropping pounds right and left.  MEN!!!  You gotta love them right? :)  I finally lost 1 pound and I'm thrilled.  I've even had to wrestle with myself to keep myself on track.  Alot of self talk.  I even get angry now and then because I find myself wanting a cracker (haven't ordered the GG Crispbreads yet - need to do today!) or a piece of bread.   It's almost like eating the FTS way is now what we enjoy.  This weekend we ate really good and didn't include a piece of bread, crackers, etc., and we didn't miss it.  I think we've adapted to the FTS way of living and we're actually enjoying it!!   Again, thanks to Doug and Umpa!!!!

WOW!  Buford, take care of yourself.  My big brother just had to have a 3 bypass surgery.  He's doing great now but struggles with weight and diabetes.  Take care - said a prayer for you today!  :)

I lost a pound!!!  Woo Hoo!!!!!  I've tried on some clothes that are actually really loose and I'm able to button a blue jean jacket that I couldn't button before!!!

Umpa!!!  It makes me feel relieved to know that you lost inches before pounds...I feel normal!!! :)

Hi Umpa!
I will do that this weekend!  I actually tried on a jacket that I haven't been able to button and was able to button with ease!!!!  I also noticed in my jeans and some of my shirts that they are loose!!  I did take my measurements about the end of the 2nd week.  Hopefully, there will be a change!!  Something is going on even if the scale isn't reflecting it!!!!
