Good morning ~ I'm a newbie and just joined this forum yesterday. Just read the book last night and want to know what any of you had for breakfast today. Because I know that breakfast is one of the most important meals in the day. I know that we can have eggs, so I fixed myself up 2 poached eggs with salt and pepper. They're easy to make and I used olive oil in the cups, so that the eggs would slip out nicely. They were really awesome!!! Before this I was going to A&W and have their clasic breakfast most mornings, but now that I have the knowledge of sugar in toast, it makes me think twice about what I'm consuming on a daily basis. Anyways, instead of rambling here, I wondered if anyone could please post some breakfasts that would be helpful for a newbie like me. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
Have a wonderful day!!! ;)

Welcome to the FTS forums. How is your first week going?
My favorite breakfast is steak and egg pitas. You take two eggs scrambled, cook up a cube steak (small one) and add cheese. I dice up the steak and it's usually enough for the whole family. Then I mix it with the scrambled eggs and tons of cheese. Place it in a Josephs low carb flax seed pita (1/2 of one) and your good to go. It's a big meal with only four carbs!! That is my favorite breakfast meal. Have you checked out the recipe section of the board? There are so many great recipes you'll never get hungry. :)

Hey SherriPie ~ thanks for the welcome. Your breakfast sounds yummy, filling, and easy to make. I will have to try it out and it's only 4 carbs! Awesome. I will definately check out the recipe section as I'm just starting my first week of FTS today. Thanks.
Take care. ;)

I don't always eat traditional breakfast food for breakfast. This morning I warmed up leftover egg foo young I made 2 nights ago for dinner.
-
I had about half a dozen sliced mushroom pieces, sauteed,
2 slices bacon
1 sausage round
and two eggs topped with cheddar cheese
Was not hungry until about 3pm

I'm big on eating hard-boiled eggs for breakfast. I homeschool and have been trying to get my exercising done before we start school, so having the eggs in the fridge really comes in handy.
Today, however, my husband made some low-carb biscuits, so I had one of those with zero-carb orange jelly.

Welcome to the family! Everyone here is sooo helpful and you can ask just about anything and get lots of ideas and encouragement!!!
This morning for breakfast I had:
2 egg omlet with turkey sausage and cheddar cheese! (3 carbs)
I also like to have the 1 minute muffin batter cooked like pancakes. I use sugar free syrup! It makes 3 silver dollar sized pancakes and are sooo yummy! (1 carb) http://www.fattoskinny.net/index.php?topic=968.0 (http://www.fattoskinny.net/index.php?topic=968.0)
Good luck! You might also check the "meal plan" section where folks post what they eat each day!!
:D ;) ;D 8)

Thanks everyone for posting your breakfasts! You've all been a great support and been very helpful. I actually had a successful eating day and I was able to stay under the 20g carb allowance, and I wasn't hungry. That's was a first. It's going to take a few weeks to get used to eating this way, but it won't be complicated. Will have to adjust to preparing and packaging food ahead of time, but it will be worth the effort. Thanks.
Blessings ;D Hugs

Welcome Loser48. I had Sensato Strawberriliscous Hot Cereal for breakfast with 1/2 cup SF Almond milk. I just put a splash in my cereal and drink the rest. It is cold where I live so I need something in the morning to warm me from the inside out. It is very high in fibre and keeps me full until lunch time

Today I had a sausage, egg and cheese (on a bagel) breakfast sandwich from DD. I tossed the bagel and just ate the sausage, egg and cheese. Not sure if that was a good choice. But was on the run and only 2nd day at this!
Thanx
Theresa

I had a version of Owensmath's (I think) breakfast quiche thingy, made with bacon, green onion, red pepper, broccoli, zucchini, eggs and cheese.
It made 4 generous servings and I've had one for breakfast for the last 2 days and will so for the next 2 days

Oh, last night I made one that is sooo good!
I used a local sausage called Nantahala sausage. I browned the sausage with some onions. Then, put it in the bottom of an 8 x 8 in glass baking dish. I used a little heavy cream with my eggs and poured that over the sausage/onion mixture. Then, I steamed some asparagus and cut it into about 1/2 in pieces and put it in with the eggs and sausage. From a dinner we attended the other night, I had some sauteed veggies leftover and threw in some broccoli pieces. Last step: I added shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese on the top. I let it cook until the cheese was brown on the top.
Oh so yummy! I didn't add any seasonings at all because the sausage was so full of flavor that the dish didn't need it. I had a piece for breakfast and I'll be having some for lunch, too! so good!
drooling yet? LOL (Sherripie, that's for you!)

Isopure Protein Drink (banana, pineapple, orange flavor) = 0 carbs
8 oz unsweetened Silk Almond milk = 0 carbs
1 coffee w/cream = 1 carb
HUH?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*** Multi-vitamins = 2 carbs :o :o :o
*** Glucosamine-Chondroitin tablet = 2 carbs :o :o :o
I was shocked to the see the carbs in those vitamins!!! Sheesh, we gotta watch everything that goes into the mouth, I guess!! ::) ::)
-
OMG there are carbs in our multivitamins!!?????
I just read my ingredients, no sign of carbs, but the non-medicinal ingredients said SUGAR!
I also take a Vitamin B 100 complex, but that didn't mention anything about sugar in the ingredients, still didn't have a carb count though!
How do we know if its not listed?
-

Hi ausgirl! :)
Go ahead and start a new post.
I am very curious what Doug's thoughts are on this and how we can identify those "hidden" carbs.
Thanks!

Umpa and I had a brunch today for 10 people at our home. We served two kinds of quiche, sausage/veggie and just veggie. They were made in large baking dishes 10 eggs each. I separated the eggs and beat the whites stiff before adding back the yolks (also beaten) and the core ingredients. This brought rise to the recipes and they held up well for an hour after cooking at room temp. Everyone enjoyed them , we put fresh strawberries on the side. 8)

Today was coconut doughnuts for me :)
