I had the same question Rena.  I didn't think I wanted to heat the heavy whipping cream up enough to dissolve the xylitol in.  I wondered if maybe I used the powdered kind in this recipe if that would help.  I have put some through a coffee grinder to use before in another recipe.... that might be the way to go with a first step.  The thing is.... when I tasted it before putting in the fridge it was melted.  I believe it crystallized back after setting up.  I still liked them and you are right the candy disguised the crunch....LOL   

The next time I place an order I'm going to order some cocoa butter to play around with.   I want to see if I can come up with a smooth and creamy 0 carb home made chocolate 


Marty here is an interesting read about xylito and our furry friends    http://www.xylitol.org/questions-about-xylitol  I never knew that they had a nose spray with it to...LOL  It does make sense though with the killing the bacteria and all.  Also it didn't occur to me that you couldn't use it with yeast.  Interesting 

Yes, and I found out that they have to be kept in the fridge. I left 2 of them out and they got really soft and crumbled apart. Even so, they were a fun addition to have, especially with everyone else eating fudge and cookies. I'll make them again for sure.

Xylitol is great stuff.

But we try very hard to not expose our miniature schnauzer to any of it.
Our vet warned that it does not take much of it to make a small dog sick.

I have been using it for about 6 years  .I have  5 yorkies.My smallest one is 4 pounds.Vet totally approves. i also like the teeth wipes.
As far as melting xylitol you can do it in water and just add it to your recipes.It melts quickly.You will see it dissolve.

Its a great product.And very good for your teeth.I am not advocating feeding your dogs xylitol,but the rinse I use has worked for my dogs.They are bad at letting me brush their teeth and mouth infections can kill small dogs.

Hi Umpa!

Our dog is NOT a fan of tooth brushing with a toothbrush.

So we us one of those plastic finger caps with the tiny soft plastic "fingers" (with a dab of toothpaste) and he loves it!
Our vet says it works as well as a tooth brush.

Just like us, massaging their gums is almost as important as removing tooth tartar.
And this little thing makes it a breeze!

LOL  Umpa that video reminds me of my Poco and his sister    Too cute ..... My little guy is twice the size of his sister.  My momma has her.    I wouldn't be able to breed them either  ...nor can I work at a shelter.  I would want to bring all of them home        Let's just say that I like being married 

I'm going to check that rinse out...he has horrible breath

TooSweet - Let me know what you find with this; I've been debating about getting some.  My husband really can't tolerate sugar alcohols at all and I'd like to be able to cut back the amount of carbs we're using from Splenda.  Thanks!

I'll post my results on here for sure Jen    I've been wanting to try it for a while when I found this site http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html  She talks about using it in many of her recipes.  My Hubs can't take to much of the other sweeteners either  sometimes they get to me as well...LOL  I do like the idea of it..... seems easy to use.  I'll report back soon

Oh no, Montuen! Did you check her mouth for burns? I used to work in a pet emergency center and we saw a lot of animals who had bad habits of chewing on cords. I hope she's okay.

Scary.Lucky dog though. ;)My daughter had a pet bunny that chewed through a cord and didn't make it.I wonder what makes them chew them?
