Title: Romaine Lettuce Leaves
Post by: Barb sugarfree! on February 11, 2012, 04:57:37 PM
I just used romaine lettuce leaves today to use as bread for an egg salad sandwich.  Not such good luck.  Excremely messy!  Is there a trick to using lettuce leaves or is there some kind of bread, I have not been able to find the tortilla that Doug mentioned in his book.   I am still sugar free and carb free and loving it  ;D

Barb, try the OMM in a flat dish instead of in a coffee cup and you'll have bread for a sandwich - you can make French Toast, Grilled Cheese - anything with it! It's ready to roll in just a few seconds!

I sometimes use pork rinds for things like tuna salad, egg salad, and some low-carb dips.

The almond crackers are really good, but my favorite is the low carb pitas  ;)

It's hard to beat that one minute muffin  :)

I use a really large leaf so you can roll it up like a buritto....never messy. I also like to gently remove the large leaves from a head of Iceberg in layers of 2...just bust out the core, remove it then gently work your way around until you've removed the leaves. Makes for a great pocket to stick whatever in. My favorite Cheeseburger bun :)

When I ever lose this extra weight, I'm going to try making my own cRAISINS by boiling the cranberries with xylitol and then cutting them up and dehydrating them. Then I'm going to make cinnamon rolls with cRAISINS! And oatmeal cookies with nuts and cRAISINS! Won't they be good? Sometimes I might put them on my salad with nuts and feta cheese. Once in a while I might even eat one all by itself. But first, I'll take 35 pounds off, please.

Don't boil them.  They'll pop.  How about, cut in half, soak in xylitol solution and dry.
