walden's farm BBQ sauce
« on: February 23, 2011, 08:07:31 PM »
I didn't like the walden's farms BBQ sauce at all.  Is there any other options? Is there a way to make it homemade, even if it has a few carbs.  That stuff is awful.
Does anyone else feel this way or do you like it? I don't think I'll try anything else from walden farms based on the BBQ sauce. YUK

Haha, that's funny - I posted the same thing the other day - its disgusting!
I actually don't like a lot of their stuff, but after the bbq sauce and how revolting it is, I don't bother with their stuff!
Sorry, I am not a big bbq sauce fan, I only bought it because I didn't want to feel left out when everyone else was eating ribs......but it was DISGUSTING!

It's all a matter of taste I suppose. Here's a thought, start with Heinz sugar free ketchup, add a bit of mustard, liquid smoke, garlic powder, onion powder, soy sauce, cayenne pepper for heat and xylitol or stevia for sweet. Quantities? not sure haven't played with it but that mixture will make a good robust low carb sauce.  ;)

We didn't like that one either. Same goes for their ketchup.  :P

It's touch & go with me for Walden Farms. I love the chocolate syrup, but hate the chocolate dipping sauce. I like most of the dressings, especially the Bacon Ranch and Bleu Cheese.

I'll have to give Doug's recipe idea a try sometime for BBQ sauce.

I guess it is a matter of taste.  I don't like that really artificial sweet taste, never have, and Walden Farms BBQ sauce seemed to have that - same with the 1000 island dressing.

Im going to try your bbq sauce though Doug, thanks

I loved the Walden's Farms Thick n Spicy BBQ sauce.  I also found another 5 carb per 2Tbls Famous Daves Georgia Mustard BBQ sauce is very good. Some grocery stores carry it and Sam's club they said.
Peace and blessings,

Thanks Doug!
I am going to try to make my own BBq sauce, but I haven't been able to find sugar free heinz here.  Maybe I can find it online.  I'm going to Olympia and I will check there first.
Thanks again,
Darla

We made a pizza tonight using the Thick & Spicy BBQ sauce from Walden Farms. It went really good with chicken and jalapenos. :)
