Sweet potato fries?
« on: August 12, 2011, 05:05:15 PM »
Sorry if this is answered elsewhere in the forum or in one of the books.

When we go out to eat, my wife loves ordering sweet potato fries.  She is not doing F2S, but she does cook that way for me.  However, she tells me that sweet potato fries are not like "regular" fries and don't have the carbs that regular french fries do.  I know the general rule about "white" foods usually being high carb.  Is this true though?  Are sweet potato fries acceptable in moderation?

My husband loves sweet potato fries. One medium sized sweet potato has 24 carbs and 4 grams fiber. So around 20 carbs. Too high for me, but they sure smell good. :)

They will also cause a wicked  spike. I make my sweet potatoes or sweet potatoe pie with pumpkin. It gives me the same consistency and it is really good. ;)

You might try the turnip fries. My  husband made them for me last week, and they really tasted to me more like Sweet Potato fries than french fries. He didn't bake them though, he fried them in a pan. They got darker like sweet potatoes and were just delicious.
