I had a required biometric screening done by my insurance company yesterday morning. The numbers I received, FOR THE FIRST TIME, made me HAPPY!!!! I literally cried when I saw my fasting glucose number: 89!!!! And I have type 2 diabetes!!!! In July, when I first started back on FTS, my fasting numbers were above 220 most mornings.
My cholesterol and triglycerides in July were unhealthy numbers, too. Here is what they were yesterday:
Total Cholesterol: 162  (less than 200 is normal)
HDL: 58 (40 - 60 is acceptable, higher than 60 is ideal)
Triglycerides: 98 (less than 150 is normal)
LDL: 85 (100 - 129 acceptabe, less than 100 IDEAL!!!!!)
GLUCOSE: 89!!!!!! (less than 100 is normal, 100 - 125 is pre-diabetes, 126 or higher is possible diabetes)

My waist circumference (not ideal yet, in my opinion, still working on it) fell into the "acceptable" category rather than the "elevated risk" category for the firs time!
My BMI has finally moved down into a new category!!!!

The pounds coming off is fantastic, but these numbers that I just told you about are the real reason I am doing this. I want to live a long and healthy life!!!!  These are the numbers that show that I am on the right track for this! : )

I am seeing the words, "normal" and "acceptable" and "regular" more often now and it's seriously starting to sink in a little. I catch myself walking through the PLUS size section and then realizing I can't find my clothes in there anymore!!! I have shopped in that section all of my adult life.... until now..... It makes me cry EVERY TIME!!!!

I am so happy for you, Donna! :) :) :)

You continue on with FTS for the same primary reason that I do.
I want to live a long, healthy life. And by living FTS, I have a much better shot at it.
The weight loss is really a secondary (but very nice) benefit.

I get what you mean by  "normal" and "acceptable" and "regular".
We are "normal" skinny people now. But our minds are slow to catch up to it.
Even after being at (or near) goal for well over 2 years, I still sometimes think about "big & tall" sizes.

I went shopping in a mall for the first time this weekend. I walked into Macy's first and didn't know whether to celebrate or to cry! I was excited to shop in the "non-plus sizes" section, of course. However, I was also overwhelmed because I had no idea where to begin. The "fat section" as I had called it,was much smaller and was my comfort zone. This new world is huge!!! The area in which they sell the smaller sizes has to be about 10 times the area for the plus sizes in most stores. Furthermore, I didn't know what size tops I wear! I started with XL and found out that most of them are too big for me - which was a shock! Overall it was a good experience, but it was emotionally draining, too.
