Constipation
« on: July 20, 2010, 01:08:41 PM »
Hey, it is me again, yes day 2 and already experiencing constipation, hard stools and bad cramping.  See I was very much into fiber and veggies prior to starting.  Can you advise me what too do (yes I am drinking plenty of water) and products that I could take (eating plenty of spinach) to help with this and not cause a rift and increase in carbs.  Thanks a bunch! :-[

hi Suzanne. You should still be eating plenty of fiber and veggies.Brancrisp bread also helps when you first start. If you are cramping it may be from an over indulgence in sugar alcohols. If it doesn't stop in a couple days go to ask umpa and post what you are eating and we will find the culprit! It takes about two weeks to detox from the sugar. If I can help anymore please ask! :)

And... if the cramping is not being caused by sugar alcohol's add a piece or two of Russell Stover or Hersey's sugar free chocolate into your daily diet. The sweetener is Malitol, a long used baby laxative.  O carb fiber additives to your beverages and as umpa pointed out GG bran crisp bread. Cut back on the meats and cheese and add fish and poultry into the party as well as the watery squashes (summer squash and zucchini) and of course plenty of water, water , water.

Suzanne, what are you eating that could cause the loose bowels? Are you overloading on sugar free chocolate?

After reading the food list you sent me I really see no ingredients in your lunches that should cause you a problem, I'll review the breakfast foods as soon as I receive them. Some of this imbalance in your system can simply be caused by changing up your foods as drastically as you have. My guess is it will straighten itself out within a few days.

Hehehehehe Cyndi, yeah I beleive so...., I was a quasi vegetarian before embarking on this, so eating more meat is very difficult, will try to opt for soy based alternatives to the cheese.  Thanks all!!!!

WHOAH!!!BACK THE TRAIN UP! You were a vegetarian and then you went to a high protien diet?Your body is adjusting, you just have to work through it.Go slow. There are some beautiful tofu products.Start with those and slowly add eggs, dairy and then slowly meat.I went years without eating beef and pork because of seizures and when I added them back,OH Boy!The dam burst! ;D ;D
