Hi ~

On every other diet plan I was on I had to write down every morsel I put in my mouth.
One thing I love about this "way of life" is that I don't write everything down...
I have read on the posts that others do...do you suggest I do that to see where my carb count is
at?

p.s. I always post the little sunglasses guy next to my name cuz we haven't seen the sun in 2 weeks here in central MN and he brightens my day  :D

I weighed yesterday morning just because the scale was in front of me and today - my official weigh in day - I am up 1.8 lbs from yesterday!
So, my plan is to enter today's weight on my "ticker" ~ not sure why but that word makes me laugh  :D
and I will not be weighing for 2 weeks now.
I think mentally I will feel much better!
Have a great Monday everyone! I'm off to work!

General Discussion / Skechers Shape-Ups...Does anyone own a pair?
« on: June 13, 2010, 11:56:23 PM »
Hi,
Does anyone own a pair of the new Skechers Shape-Up shoes?
The one thing I really do not want is to spend money I don' need to spend.
I heard today that they make a world of difference.
But...I just bought new walking shoes....should I be patient and buy them later?
Need your advice...please.

General Discussion / Grad Party....
« on: June 13, 2010, 11:39:09 PM »
We went to my nephews grad party in the Twin Cities today...all 6 of us... 8)
On the menu...CHINESE...whole chicken breasts, fried wings, egg rolls, lo mein, fried rice, grilled pork chops, brats, steamed green beans etc.

I grabbed a whole grilled chicken breast, a pork chop and 1/2 a plate of green beans.  I also had black and green olives from the relish tray.
It was just delicious!  I went back for a brat...since I was craving one. I don't think I have eaten this much since I started but I have been feeling really
hungry the last 2 days so I just ate to my hearts content.  I had a diet pop with my lunch followed by a water while we visited.  I met total strangers sitting at my table...relatives of my nephew on his other side.  By the time we left, I not only sold about 5 books but exchanged emails and have started writing back and forth with one woman already....she is a massage therapist who is following the WW plan and is having a hard time.  I said, "well, have I got something to share with you...."  It was that easy...made a new friend and feel that I helped some women today find what they just might need for a fresh start!

Wasn't hungry til about 9 tonight and had some deviled eggs, strawberries with Reddi-Whip for my nightly treat and a huge glass of ice water...life is good!  ;D

General Discussion / Taco's!!
« on: June 12, 2010, 06:52:33 PM »
The other day I took my girls to our favorite local taco place.  They all ordered and I sat with them, watching them eat...I went back to the counter, said I had changed my mind and asked for a taco minus the tortilla...they were more than happy to do it, put all of the ingredients in a styrofoam box and I ate it with a fork, it was fantastic and I didn't feel a bit deprived!

This is the first time in ages I don't have that deprived feeling. I LOVE being able to have all the "guts" without the breading...best part!

:D So I'm checking again to see if my ticker works...

So in the middle of the night I woke up, and I was thinking about how proud I am of myself
for choosing such a great dinner last night....then I thought to myself "did I ask for DIET tonic water?"

I texted my sister early this morning and said...do you think that tonic had sugar? And she said, "oh yes, I forgot to tell you, I asked before
you came and they only have regular tonic!!!!"    Augh!!!!!!  How bad did I blow it?

No wonder it was sooooo good...it was loaded with sugar.  Darn it. Well live and learn.  I won't make that mistake again  :-\
Having a good day today although I feel really hungry...trying to find something "fun" to eat for a snack, please send any ideas my way.
Thank you!  8)

General Discussion / Testing to see if my "ticker" works...lol

Testing....

So my brother is in town for a visit with his wife and 3 kids.
We decided since our visits are so few and far between that all of the adults would meet for a nice dinner together.
I sit down and everyone has beer in chilled mugs (beer is my favorite!!!  :o) I have not had a beer since I started this plan 10 days ago.
Instead I ordered a gin, tonic with lime juice.  It was delightful!  I had water with lemon on the side.

For dinner, I wanted to stay on track and every meal was $19.99 on up, breaded, fried, popovers on the side etc....
On the burger menu I saw that they had grilled chicken breast sandwich, smothered in mushrooms, covered in pesto mayo...
I kindly asked the waiter if I could have that WITHOUT THE BUN...and broccoli on the side. He said he would have to charge me an extra $1 for a veggie instead of fries of mashed potatoes.  I gladly paid the extra $1, My total food bill, $8.99!  It was DELICIOUS!!

I feel so great right now and finally feel in control, I did not leave the restaurant just stuffed as I have in the past... Not weighing in again til Tues.  I cannot wait.  I even have energy to exercise tonight.
I am off to put in the "Walk Away the Pounds" DVD...Have a great evening everyone!

General Discussion / Just getting started....
« on: June 08, 2010, 09:24:31 PM »
I started this new "way of life" on 6/1/10 - I have already experienced more energy and feel more alert.
I am 44 years old and extremely overweight.  I need to lose 90 pounds at least!  My 2 sisters are having success as well and I am spreading the word about this book - already ordered several for my friends!  Please let me know if you have any helpful hints for snacks...or just any advice in general. Today was weighin #1 = after 7 days I am down 3 lbs.  I was kind of bummed until my sister said, "picture 3 pounds of solid butter" - I feel better about it now and realize I need to be patient.  I welcome any and all advice.
Thanks!!  :)
