General Discussion / Checking in!
« on: May 22, 2013, 12:50:36 PM »
Hey FTS family!  Sorry I have been missing in action.  Please know I am still on board (had a yummy flax seed muffin topped with whipped cream cheese & sugar free strawberry preserves for breakfast!  :)

I HAD been busy with the horses....until Good Friday. Rambo, pitched a tantrum and bucked me off.  :-\ I didn't have any broken bones...just bruised up pretty bad and really sore for a couple weeks.  After lots of thought, I decided I wasn't willing to risk another fall like that again at 50 years old.  A sweet couple bought him from me.  The lady is a horse trainer who also gives riding lessons.   When she came for a "test ride"  he bucked HER off too!  Scared me to death.   Well, she bought him anyway and said he would be a project horse for her.   Apparently, Rambo was NOT the "beginners or child's horse" he was advertised to me as being.  So thankful I wasn't hurt worse.

Next thing....our daughter is engaged and getting married on August 9th!  We are excited and busy making plans for a small wedding.  Also there's the house to decorate, and it's all so much fun!  We will still have her horse at our house after she gets married, so I can still ride (a GOOD horse) anytime I want.  ;)

We were out of town week before last on vacation, so hopefully now I can settle back into "the real world".  ha ha  I am hoping to be checking in with all of you more often!  I've missed you guys!!   ;D

Hey everybody!  I FINALLY got my own horse!! He is a 6 year old tri-color paint horse, and I'm in love!  Y'all know I have wanted one ever since our daughter got hers this past Spring.  We finally got to go riding TOGETHER for the first time on Saturday, and it was totally wonderful.  Prior to FTS, I never DREAMED my life could be like this again, and NEVER did I believe I could be riding a horse again!  I am having the time of my life.   Also, I am hoping this will give me even more incentive to "finish" this year, and get off the rest of my weight.  I am so happy!!  Thank you FTS!!!

Hey FTS family!  Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a happy New year!  I haven't been online much lately, but I do plan to be around A LOT more now.  ;D
Ok.... Guess what I found at Kroger tonight?....GG BRAN CRISP BREAD!!  I couldn't believe it!  I'll be topping it with cream cheese & sugar free strawberry preserves for breakfast this week!  They also had Shirataki noodles in stock too!  I've tried them in the past and wasn't crazy about it, but I am going to give it another chance.  I may have some "spaghetti & meatballs" this week.   ;)

Hope everybody has a great "fat to skinny" week!!  Love y'all!!!!

Several years ago, my husband and I did a stupid thing and cashed in our whole life insurance policies we had taken out when we were 22 years old.  :(  We later replaced my husband's policy, but we had NO idea how hard it would be for ME to get new life insurance at 376 pounds!

A couple weeks ago (and 118 pounds less) I decided to try it again.  I got a decent quote, but they sent a nurse out to my house for a complete medical exam.  Today I got word that my blood work & blood pressure was SO good that the insurance company is giving me even LOWER monthly rate than first quoted!!  Thank you FTS!!

General Discussion / My daughter is on FTS!
« on: July 14, 2012, 10:09:35 AM »
Hey Everybody....I'm back after a LONG week on jury duty.  I got on a case, and had to stay in court until after 7pm most every night.  ....with no cell phone.  :-X

Anyway, I wanted to share that my daughter is now trying FTS!!  I think most of you know she is 6' 2" and has played basketball since 3rd grade.  She will be 21 this coming Monday.  Six months ago, she decided not to play college ball any longer ...though she continued to EAT like a FOOTBALL player.  ha ha (just kidding Tony. ;) )   She stepped on the scale last week, weighed 200 lbs, ....and cried.  At her height, I think she still looks great, but she was NOT happy. Well, she KNOWS what to do.  Last Thursday she decided to start FTS and she's already lost 8 pounds!!!!   She is a happy camper!  :D

I was tickled to get home at night and find that she had been making mashed cauliflower, low carb wraps, and even eating up MY last pack of crispbread!!  ha ha  Oh, she also has come up with a little creation that was yummy!

She mixed:
1 container of strawberry/banana Carbmaster yogurt
about 1/2 cup whipping cream
2 Tbsp whipped cream cheese
2 tsp xylitol   (I'm out of Zero....gotta order some!!)
6 strawberries

She put it in the food processor and ran it on high for a while...til it was whipped.  It comes out like PUDDING!!  Then she topped it with Land of Lakes whip cream.  I was totally impressed!!!   .......just had to share.    ;D

Hey Everybody, I know I haven't been online much lately, but we have been SO BUSY!  We have been trying to get our fence ready and finally yesterday.....WE GOT A HORSE!!   I think I am more excited than our daughter.  Thanks to FTS, for the first time in YEARS I was able to ride!  I feel like a little girl with a birthday pony!  ha ha  His name is "Hunter" and he is an 11 year old Tennessee Walker... (but he's never been mistreated like the ones you see in the news.)  He's just an awesome trail horse with some cool gaits!   (I tried to attach a picture my brother took with his phone.)

Click Here To Share Your Success Story / old doctor scales that rattle.....
« on: December 06, 2011, 11:02:26 AM »
So today I went for my yearly visit to the ob/gyn.  I've gone to this same doctor for over 25 years now.  I had just started FTS when I was there last year.  However, when I was there 2 years ago, I couldn't even weigh on his scales!  He still has one of those old type doctor scales with the slide at the top....and it only goes to 350.  :-[  At that visit, he suggested that I talk with my internist to see if I might be a candidate for weight-loss surgery.  :-\ I've told ya'll before, my mother in law agreed to pay for it too!  My internist told me, "NO, you are healthy and you can lose-weight without surgery."

Well, I have to say it was kind of fun weighing on that old rattly scale this morning!  ;D ha ha  When he asked what I had done, I gave him the whole FTS spill, and he told me to keep up the good work!  The AWESOME thing was that he then said that I had done BETTER than alot of people who have the surgery!!! ;D  Wow...This all just came around full circle for me today.  I have said this often but here goes again....I AM SO THANKFUL FOR FTS!!  ;D

General Discussion / Heavy whipping cream....who knew!!!!
« on: November 30, 2011, 07:37:56 AM »
While reading yesterday I found out something new (old actually) about heavy whipping cream!  Did ya'll know that if you continue to beat the cream past the whipped cream point that it turns into BUTTER???  OMG!  I had no idea this is how you make real butter.  You beat it until the cream separates from the liquid.  The solid is then butter and the liquid is butter milk!  (google it!)

Ok, I am a little grossed out because about once a week I whip up a little bowl of it with vanilla & xylitol and eat it with strawberries.  So is this like eating strawberries and butter?  ::)   Oh my.....dread to see my cholesterol level when I go for my 6 month check up next month!  ha ha

General Discussion / weight-loss pays off!!

I have the sweetest family!  Last night, my mom and one of my brothers came over and they each gave me a $100 bill!!  They said they were paying me a dollar a pound!  It was such a sweet surprise, and it tickled me pink!  Now I just can't wait to go shopping for something nice to wear for the holidays!   This is SO much fun!!!  Losing weight DOES pay off!!!  ha ha   ;)

Hey everybody!  I finally hit the 100 mark this morning, and God blessed me with an additional 1.2 just to show me HE could!!!  I am SOOO excited!!  Thank you Doug, Umpa, and all of my FTS family for all the continued support!   I am ready to start on the second 100 now!!!  Love ya'll!!!!

Ask Umpa / Chinese hot & sour soup

Hi Umpa!!  Do you already have a recipe for hot & sour soup?  If so, I would LOVE to try it.   If not, please don't go to any trouble creating one right now.  Later on after the holidays when it gets really cold, it would be SO tasty!

General Discussion / Back from vacation!
« on: October 31, 2011, 07:22:02 PM »
Hey FTS buddies!   We got home from vacation Saturday night, but I waited until Sunday morning to step on the scale.  I was SO happy to find that I stayed the same and didn't gain any!  I only cheated a couple little times while I was gone, but now I am ready to get down to business and get this ticker moving again!

As for our trip, we LOVED the Keys & didn't want to come home!  We stayed in Islamorada, but drove down to Key West 3 different days.  Phil fished every day except Friday, and caught LOTS of fish!  We went out to the reef on the glass bottom boat, and that was fun.  We never had a bad meal...found lots of FTS friendly dishes too.

OH!!  Doug & Umpa, I still had your address from mailing in my Praise page.  On Wednesday as we headed to Key West, we drove by to check out a couple of the other resorts on our time share (planning ahead for next year! ;) )   I asked Phil if we could take a little detour and see if we could find your house!  OMG! I am SOOO jealous!! Your home is TOTALLY beautiful and what a location right on a waterway!! I wanted to get out and get my pic made by your funny "Big @$% truck Dr." sign, but I was afraid your neighbors would think I was a crazy stalker!  ::) ha ha  Oh, we saw several of those little Key deer too!  One ran right across the road in front of us.   They are SO cute!!  The weather was great, and the sunsets were amazing!  I'm planning to be at my goal weight by the time we go back!   ;D

Hope everyone had a great week.  I found out that I am addicted to the forum.....and my scale.  ha ha

Love & missed ya'll!!!
