General Discussion / Food Addiction
« on: September 15, 2015, 10:33:29 AM »
I was thinking back a few days ago about foods I have been addicted to...they certainly were not broccoli ...I was fond of eating a lot of raw carrots.  I started from carrots to whole packs of bologna.  At the time I was a healthy weight.  I took it for granted.  I started drinking whole gallons of milk in a day,,,,to half gallons of chocolate milk to whole boxes of chocolate ice milk.  It was all that I really wanted to eat.  It did not take long for me to pack on the pounds.  I became a food addict.  I would become obsessed with cookies or brownies and not pay heed to my portion sizes.  Every food would be high in carbs or sugar...mostly sugar.  Sugar addiction is like heroin addiction.  It is like Doug says....sugar and carbs make you large....meat and greans will make you lean.

Product Reviews / Boca Burgers
« on: November 25, 2013, 05:33:55 PM »
I had one for lunch wrapped in a la tortilla with mustard a slice of deli cheese and a dill pickle slice.  It was only one carb for the veggie burger....a total 5 carb meal.  It is easy to eat low carb and neglect vegetables...boca burgers help sneek in a veggie.

Meal Plans / Skychants mealplan...Thanksgiving week detox
« on: November 24, 2013, 05:58:06 PM »
I got up early this morning and made a big omlette with two eggs, three slices of ham and a half a cup each of red bell pepper and onion.  I also put a slice of Kraft deli cheese and a sprinkle of parmesan on it.  That took up 10 carbs.  I also drank a Sams Choice caffeine free diet soda.  For lunch I had philly steak on a la tortilla with some sprinkle cheese and a cup of decaf coffee.  This was 5 carbs. For a snack I ate a tin of kippers and for supper I ate a can of Chicken Vienna sausage and a cup of pomegranate green tea sweetened with FTS zero.  15 carbs for the day and I have also been drinking alot of water.  I have been very hungry today.  I do admit that it feel great to be taking control of my health for a change instead of being a sugar fiend.  I am eager to get on the scale in the morning and see the results.

General Discussion / Beating The Holiday Bulge
« on: November 23, 2013, 09:31:57 PM »
Thanksgiving is almost apon us and so is Christmas and I was thinking...why should I gain 20 pounds over the holidays when I can lose that much by New Years with Fat to Skinny and a low carb lifestyle.  It is common sense and I know I have been successful in the past and can again if I simply apply myself.  So I looked around the kitchen to see what low carb staples I have in the fridge and freezer to get me by until I have a trip to the market....I found low carb ham and cheese, eggs and some philly steak as well as some sardines and some kippers.  I can do this and will do this starting Sunday the 24th.  24 is the size that I am now.  I will oficially weigh myself in the morning and figure after all of the birthday red velvet cake that I have been eating weigh somewhere between 302 or 3 pounds.  I am excited about losing weight over the holidays and well into the New Year.  I am hoping that by my birthday next year I will be healthier and happier. Here's to beating the holiday bulge!  :)

Product Reviews / Luzianne Green Iced Tea
« on: July 18, 2013, 03:55:37 PM »
Luzianne Green Iced Tea is now my beverage of choice.  I buy it decafinated in a family size box of 24 tea bags.  I gave up drinking diet soda a month ago.  Maybe it is FTS but I can really tell a difference in my waist.  They say that drinking green tea helps to speed up your metabolism and burn fat.  I have been sweetening it with FTS Zero sweetner.  I bought my tea at Food Lion.  You should really give it a try.  I feel so much better not drinking so much diet soda. :)

Product Reviews / Sardines
« on: July 11, 2013, 04:27:48 PM »
I have always loved sardines and find the quality of them has declined in the stores.  I tried some Look's Atlantic Premium Sardines  Fillets in Cracked Pepper today and absolutely loved them.  I purchased them at Big Lots and bought the last three tins of them that they had.  Maybe there are some suggestions as to really good sardines on the market today.

Sides and Snacks / Easy Snack
« on: July 08, 2013, 02:51:53 PM »
It is almost time for a snack and I plan on making one of my favorites....all I do is take two tablespoons of cream cheese...Check the carb counts for one that is low...a packet of artificial sweetner... and a few sprinkles of cinnamon and stir together.  I  heat up a GG brancrisp in the microwave for 20 seconds and smear the yummy goodness on top.  It would also be good on a one minute muffin.  I am off to make my snack. :)

General Discussion / I am losing weight!
« on: May 22, 2013, 05:58:58 PM »
I started Sunday and have eaten out three days and am thrilled to say that I have lost 4 pounds so far this week.  It is nice to know that I am not limited to just preparing meals at home.  I ordered one of my favorite meals...chicken fajitas, without the tortillas and rice and thought it was just as good.  I have also been wraping the contents of double cheeseburgers in la tortillas.  I can already notice that my daily cravings for sugar and carb laden foods have left me.  I like being in control of my health for a change and look forward to getting down to a healthier size.  Sad to say that I have over 100 pounds to lose...but with FTS I know that I can do it...especially if I don't give up on myself.  Greatfull for this site and such a wonderful book.   :)

General Discussion / Chicken tenders
« on: January 12, 2013, 07:49:57 PM »
I do wonder if this is cheating...I went to Hardee's and bought a five piece hand breaded chicken tenders for a late lunch today.  I noticed on myfitnesspal.com that the carb count on this was 18.  I only ate four of them.  Is it true that you can eat whatever you want as long as you keep your carbs at 20 or less and sugars at 5 or less.  I do not intend to do this very often.  I also noticed that a five piece chicken tenders at Zaxbys is only 12 carbs.  I guess I will find out in the morning when I get on the scale.

Lunch Recipes / Tuna Melt
« on: January 10, 2013, 03:34:50 PM »
This is one of my favorites.  I take a 5oz. can of Albacore tuna and a tablespoon of dukes mayo and a teaspoon of sugar-free relish and mix in a bowl with some Mrs. Dash garlic and herb...be sure to drain the tuna before mixing.  I then take a Joseph's pita and seperate it into two circles, layer one circle with the tuna salad and a slice of Kraft deli cheese and put on the top circle of the pita.  I use a grill press and toast until crispy and the cheese melts.  This is really good and easy to make.

General Discussion / weight-loss goal 2013
« on: January 02, 2013, 06:31:09 PM »
I have decided that 2013 is the year that I will achieve my weight loss goals and live a healthier life.  This is not a resolution but a commitment that I am making to myself so that I can improve the quality of my life.  I have every faith that I can be successful with Fat To Skinny and the support of the forum. I challenge others to weigh themselves and take their measurements and Follow the guidelines in Doug's book and watch the magic of a total transformation of their appearance and health.  Let's all make this the year that we finally achieve our goals.  Happy 2013!  ;)
