Product Reviews / Today's Temptations

Has anybody come across Today's Temptations bread?  It seems too good to be true.  Low fat, sugar free, etc. only 2 net grams of carb per slice and it tastes good!

General Discussion / Strawberries
« on: July 07, 2011, 08:43:45 AM »

Hi Doug!

I have been eating strawberries, only a half cup, for breakfast because I thought they were the lowest carb fruit.  Now I am reading in a carb counter book that they have 12 carbs per cup!  Can this be true?

Hi Doug!

If you ever do a reprint of your book, would it be possible to add an index?  I spend ages flipping thru the pages for something that i know i read somewhere  in the book, but can never remember where.  Happens a lot!

Lean On My Shoulder / Gluten free?
« on: January 26, 2011, 11:53:49 PM »
Hi everyone!  This gets compicated but i'll try and explain.  I have fallen off the low carb wagon a bit over the holidays and during our Wisconsin bad weather spell.  As well as gaining  back 5lbs, I find my fybromyalgia has flared up really bad.  Now i am wondering whether when I was doing low carb I was also ( as a side benefit) getting rid of some of the gluten in my diet.  Now I am wondering if i should go on a  gluten free plan.  But gluten free is very restrictive.  What do you guys think?

General Discussion / Another Good Book
« on: November 21, 2010, 12:04:35 PM »
I just recently bought this book secondhand through Amazon.  It's a good one for sticking with the low carb lifestyle for the long term.  Some good recipes and strategies.  Well worth it!

The book is called, appropriately enough, Living Low Carb....The Complete Guide to Long-term Low-Carb Dieting.  The author is Fran McCullough.

Dinner Recipes / Dinner for two
« on: November 15, 2010, 12:05:51 AM »
Dinner for us is usually some kind of protein that Mr. Jack Spratt the low fat dieter can tolerate plus a big salad.  It gets boring!  I usually have a glass of white wine (or two) before dinner with a little bit of cheese or veggie snacks.  Jack fills himself up with cereal and toast later on during the evening.  My protein keeps me going pretty well for the evening.  Sometimes I nibble on more cheese

Lunch Recipes / Fave Lunch
« on: November 14, 2010, 11:59:21 PM »
My current favorite lunch is a simple Ceasar salad with added chicken.  I can throw it together at home ( I buy ready cooked chicken to keep handy) or order eat at most restaurants if I am out for lunch.

I like to have dessert too.  Uusally berries or a sugar free pudding of some type.  I think I am eating too much of the artificially sweetened  stuff though just lately.  Natural is better eg. strawberries.

Breakfast Recipes / My favorite Fattoskinny Breakfast is.....
« on: November 14, 2010, 11:51:47 PM »
Hi Guys:

My favorite Fattoskinny breakfast is BLT wraps.  I don't like eggs so none of those eggy recipes work for me.  i use the 3 or net net carb wraps, whichever I have and zap the bacon in the microwave.  Sometimes I add avocado, sometimes jjust leftover lettuce and tomato from last nights salad,  That ususally sees me through to mid morning when I typically eat an Atkins bar of or similar.

Lean On My Shoulder / Cold Weather Carbs
« on: November 14, 2010, 11:38:12 PM »
Hi Doug!

I finally remembered my password so now I am back!

I lost 20 lbs a year ago with Fattoskinny and have been maintaining it very nicely until just lately.  The weather here in Wisconsin has takien a turn for the worse and sudddenly I feel empty and hungry!  Also, the fake food such as protein bars etc. has started to give me gas.  My husband is a confirmed and successful low fat dieter for life, so i have to have low fat stuff as well as low carb stuff in my kitchen.  The only food we can both eat are vegetables.

I know, I know,  so many problems!  I'm just off to eat a piece of cheese to fill myself up!

Glad to be back

Sides and Snacks / Hash Browns
« on: March 31, 2010, 04:35:43 AM »
Hi Everyone!

The morning after I have made cauliflower "mashed potatos" I fry up the leftovers for breakfast with a couple of rashers of turkey bacon.  It's very good due to the butter and mayonaise used in the mash!
